First Commenting Blog

Using your prior knowledge of comments, and the class handout, we will be commenting on four blogs today.

Make sure your comments are respectful, constructive and have a point to them.  Ensure that anything that is published is error free and has been proofread.  Can you believe that we have already finished almost two months of school?

Literary Blog Assignment #3

For todays assignment you need to choose a quote from the story that you find powerful, interesting or unique.  Focus on the author's diction and their use of literary devices (similes, metaphors, personification, ect). Write your quote on the top of entry and then explain why you chose this quote.  Why is it important to the plot of the story? What literary term did the author use? Why did you choose this quote?  What drew you to it?

Literary Blog Number 2:

For your second blogging assignment you will have to write two different paragraphs.  Each paragraph should be about 250 words in length.  The topics, are as follows:

1) A character sketch of the protagonist of your novel.  Discuss who they are.  What do they look like physically?  What do they behave like?  What kind of person are they?
Include a photo of what you feel they might look like if they were played by a famous actor

2) Outline the setting of your novel.  Where does it take place?  Remember time, place and circumstance.  What does this setting remind you of?  May be a place, another movie, a family vacation, ect.

First Post of the Year!

Welcome!  This is our first blog post of the new school year.  How exciting!  I am currently reading The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury.  I've just started it and am really excited to see how things will turn out!  Once I finish the first chapter, I'll post more!

For YOUR first post of the year, I would like you to write two paragraphs.

#1: ALL ABOUT ME

In one paragraph, please introduce yourself to your audience.  Tell us your name, your favorite subjects, and hobbies, your favorite foods, movies and types of books.  Give us enough details to understand a snapshot of who you are as an individual!

#2: MY CURRENT NOVEL

In this paragraph, you will give a brief summary of your novel.  You may not be finished it yet, but you can outline the basic plot for us.  Think of this "synopsis" as the text you'd see on the back side of a book.  It let's the audience know just enough to get them hooked onto what your reading about.  Please remember to use literary terms when discussing a text: plot, suspense, pro and antagonist, exposition, rising action, etc.
After your paragraph, paste a picture of your novel.  It might be a different cover than your current book, but it'll help us picture your great literary choice!
